A Scottish Temple to Greek DemiGoddesses?
|
Well I did say Eclectic
didn't I? I chose my home here at Muse's Mews because of
my varied tastes in the Arts and Education areas. I don't
just like one thing or another, but a whole variety of
things, And the nine Muses, being the divine guardians of
the Arts and Sciences this seemed the most appropriate
place. I can't say that I have interests in all of the
areas covered by all nine of the muses, but probably most
of them.
|
 |
Anyway, with this in mind, I originally
set out to create my home on the web in order to promote
my fields of interest. Each room in this abode to be
dedicated to a different subject, each with its own muse,
and a page of links to sights that also promoted the
subjects I enjoyed. As with any grand opus however, it
changes as it grows toward completion. In its current
incarnation, I've decided to set aside some of the
blatent self-promotion and focus on links.
|
So now you're probably
asking, "Jamie, just what are the names of the muses
and what areas do they cover?"...
(OK, so you are probably not, but here it goes anyway.)
Muse..............................Domain
Calliope...................Heroic Poetry
Clio..............................History

Euterpe..............Music&Lyric Poetry
Melpomene.........................Tragedy

The Muses and their Specialties
|
 |
Each room in my home here is a links
page for subjects associated with the function of that
room. i.e.: library-reading & writing, kitchen/dining
room-cooking eating & drinking, workshop-woodworking
& home repair, etc., etc..

Areas not Covered by the Classic Greeks
|
As you can see there was at least a little overlapping in
the areas of control and some areas are not even covered.
Oh well, so when I cover an area not covered by one of
the classic muses I will try to find an appropriate
victim to name as a new muse. There was also some amount
of overlap in the links pages so you may find some
repeated links in different rooms.
|
 |
|
There is still a lot of room left for
expansion so later maybe I'll get to some of that self
aggrandizement that I was talking about earlier, and of
course I will be adding and changeing links as I find
newer and better ones. So, hang up your coat and come on
in.
